Swatch and Review: R. Hobby Cosmetics

Happy Tuesday!

I have another indie brand on tap for today, R. Hobby Cosmetics!

Please note that while the bottles below are labeled Black Cat Lacquers, Rachel changed the name of her company to prevent confusion. All you need to know is that she is now making polishes under the name R. Hobby Cosmetics! :-)

Today, I have three lovely shades from R. Hobby... and I'm really excited to bring them to you!

First up is Winterfell, a frosty orange polish with blue flash. This is definitely unique from anything I have EVER seen. Blue and orange frost? Say what?

The application was very smooth, without issue. I don't tend to wear orange on my nails, let alone in clothing altogether, because it doesn't work with my skintone. But for those of you without slight hints of yellow in your complexion, this will DEFINITELY flatter you. And it was more flattering on me than i thought it'd be.

Next is Baby Powder, a milky based polish with pastel hexagonal glitter. Now, you can see there is definitely purple flash in the bottle. She also makes another Baby Powder version with blue flash in it. How cool is that?

I layered the polish, from left to right, over Julep Renee, Sally Hansen White On, butter LONDON Lillibet's Jubilee, and Sinful Colors Black on Black.

You can definitely see the violet shimmer on all of the nails, picking up most on the black. But it's definitely present in everything. I really like how the pastel glitter works together to create a fun, youthful look that is delicate. VERY smart!

I needed two coats of Baby Powder to get enough glitter on the nail to my liking, but it wasn't hard to get it to spread.

Last, but certainly not least, is Twiggy, a sea of earth-toned glitter in all shapes and sizes in a gold metallic base. It's easy to miss the gold in the bottle at first, but boy, does it come out to play on the nail! There is bar glitter, hex glitter, microglitter... and it packs so much punch!

This definitely reminds me of the woods in the fall, sticks and leaves everywhere. It is so not my normal cup of tea, but I LOVE it. This was only two coats... imagine what a third would do!

Overall, I am in love with Twiggy and adore Baby Powder. Winterfell was really pretty as far as the color goes, but it just clashed against my skintone. It would definitely look good on some of my friends with different complexions.

Polishes from R. Hobby Cosmetics are available through its Etsy Store for $8 per 15mL bottle. I highly recommend taking a look at Rachel's other shades, ESPECIALLY Waterfall and Rain on My Parade.

Are you as in love with these as I am?
