Captain America The Winter Soldier Nail Art

Hello, everybody! I thought this nail art was an appropriate way to kick off this week's slough of patriotic nail art. I mean, what superhero is more appropriate for July 4th than Captain America?!?!

Those of you who follow me on Instagram are likely aware that I attended the Philadelphia Wizard World Convention. Philly Wizard Con is essentially the Philly version of Comic Con, on a significantly smaller scale. However, in spite of that, there were still a lot of amazing guests at the convention. In particular, Matt Smith and Karen Gillan (of Doctor Who fame), a huge chunk of the Walking Dead cast, Nathan Fillion, Christopher Lloyd, David Boreanaz, Whoopi Goldberg (because she was in a few Star Trek films as Guinian), and a slough of others were there.

I left out two men who I was fortunate enough to have my photo taken with: Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie, who played Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier and Sam Wilson/Falcon, respectively, in the most recent Captain America movie.

Knowing that I would have this opportunity, I wanted to do some Captain America-themed nail art that incorporated both men's characters.

And I was pretty happy with the end result.

So was Anthony Mackie, who proceeding to grab my hand and shove it in Sebastian's face, yelling exuberantly. You'll see why in a moment.

The thumb nail is inspired by Cap's shield, the index finger inspired by The Winter Soldier's bionic arm, the middle finger (and the reason for Mackie's screaming) is inspired Falcon's wings, the ring finger is the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo, and the pinky finger is Black Widow's symbol from the comics.

For the record, Anthony was repeatedly referencing my middle finger and yelling, "DUDE! That's. ME! That's Falcon!"

And Sebastian agreed that they were cool.

In case you were wondering, they both smelled FANTASTIC and Sebastian looks like he stepped out of a J.Crew catalog. Even my grandmother was swooning.

And just for you guys... because I know 'pictures or it didn't happen...'

Milani Swatch and Review Part 3: Gold Label Glitters

Today is Milani Monday here at Princess Polish! So in honor of that, I'm bringing you four glitters from the Milani Gold Label Collection for 2014.

And they're all named after sugar!

First up is Sugar Burst, a mix of tiny and small particles of pale pink and holographic glitter. The above is one coat over Periwinkle Power!

Next is Sugar Cane, pink and purple and blue bar glitter, over Coastal Coral. This is with two thin coats.

Next up is Sugar Coated over Blue Zoom. I love how the small particles of lime and holographic glitter popped over the royal blue shade. This is a sister glitter topper of Sugar Burst.

Here is Sugar Rush over Aqua Crush. Sugar Rush consists of pastel pink, orange, green, and silver hexagonal glitter. I liked this chunkier look over the bright Aqua Crush. This is with two coats of glitter.

But my favorite combination of ALL has to be both Sugar Coated and Sugar Rush over Aqua Crush. This has to just be Spring in a bottle, but totally wearable for summer!

These new Milani shades for 2014 are currently available for $3.99 at CVS and MilaniCosmetics.com.
Overall, I found that this collection was all hits and no misses, including in the application, the department in which glitter toppers are notoriously difficult.
I think Sugar Coated was my favorite!
What were your hits and misses?

Swatch & Review: Zoya Magical Pixie Dust Collection for Spring 2014

Hello, everyone! Today, as part of my catching up on swatches, I have the trio of Zoya Spring Pixie Dusts for you to see!

Normally, I'm not a fan of these, but I really think they've won me over!

Zoya Cosmo is a silver crystal texture polish with fine and hex holographic glitter particles. The above is with two coats. I have to sy that I definitely have the non-textured version of this polish as sold by a ton of different other brands, but the textured Pixie Dust version just has so much more pop!

Zoya Lux is a rose quartz texture polish with with fine and hex holographic glitter particles. The above is with two coats. I'm not usually a fan of pink glitters because they just scream super duper girly girl. But this was delicate and eye-catching at the same time.

Zoya Vega is an opal blue texture polish with fine and hex holographic glitter particles. The above is with two coats. And I think she's a beauty that reminds me of the ocean in the tropics!

Overall, I was bowled over by this collection. The shades had such depth and sparkle to them and I loved them so much more than the original line of pixies!

All Magical Pixie Dust shades are available at Zoya.com for $10, as well as local beauty suppliers such as Ulta.
