Many of you do not know that my father beat colon cancer this past fall, just when my blog was getting started. Many posts were written from hospital rooms during his recovery.
I have always participated in Relay for Life, which benefits the American Cancer Society, but this year it became more personal than ever. As a college student, it's really hard to fundraise around campus and these days, with the current state of the economy, it is a rough economic climate for these charities.
I have been toying around with this for a really long time, but some of my fellow bloggers finally pushed me to do this and I'm glad they did.
Cosmetics for a Cure is a raffle, with 100% of the money donated going to the American Cancer Society via Relay for Life! Each entry costs just $1 and you have a chance to win the VERY Limited Edition Peter Som Collection, hard to find nail polishes, expensive polishes, gift certificates, and more!
Money will be collected via the Relay for Life website and is an entirely secure. Due to ACS restrictions, there is a minimum $5 donations, which is five entries in the raffle.
For every $100 raised (which equals, at most, 20 people's participation), I will add a new prize! And believe me, they're awesome.
Here's the list of the money milestones and the corresponding prizes:
$1500 - Cult Nails Seduction
$1650 - OPI Glam Slam duo: Pros & Bronze/Love is a Racket
$1700 - Lynnderella Funny Money
$1750 - Cult Nails Scandalous
If we go over $700, I will add more mystery prizes! Every time we pass a milestone, I will announce it on the Facebook and Twitter pages. And who knows? If we receive donations, I might add in some surprises at $250, $350, etc.
HOW TO ENTER:
Please visit my DONATION PAGE to donate however much you'd like. $5 for 5 entries is the minimum, but certainly not a maximum. Beyond $5, it is the same $1 an entry. (Ex: 15 entries are $15, 100 entries are $100, etc.)
Please be sure to check off the box for that says "Yes, publicly display my donation amount with my name" so that I can correctly record your name and entries in an Excel sheet. When the raffle ends, I will use my Excel sheet and Random.org to select the winners.
The raffle starts today and ends on April 14th at 6:00 am. AND it is open internationally!
If you have any questions, please feel free to comment here or on Facebook and I will do my best to answer them.
If you would like to donate to my raffle, please contact me at PrincessPolishBlog@gmail.com.
Thanks in advance for all of your support!

Done!! Good luck!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kelly! You have no idea how much it means to me! :-D
DeleteDonated $10, it is what I can give. My grandma is battling breast cancer currently and just had a mastectomy. Thank you for this raffle for a good cause.
ReplyDeleteI know that times are tough right now for everyone, so I appreciate it immensely. My thoughts and prayers are with your grandma. Thank you again!
DeleteDone and done. Cancer is a nightmare, so thank you for doing this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your support!
DeleteI am so happy for your family that your father beat cancer. My fiance's stepfather was not as fortunate. It has been very difficult on my fiance and his mother. I will be donating. :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
DeleteCan Canadians donate/enter too?
ReplyDeleteYes! You absolutely can. I will note on the post that this is open internationally!
DeleteThanks Danielle! You are offering some great prizes, but even more importantly...this is a great cause. Good luck!
DeleteI donated! What a wonderful cause and a nice way to reward some lucky donors. I have lost too many loved ones to cancer. :(
ReplyDeleteDon't know if Recognition Name is the same as "Yes, publicly display my donation amount with my name", hope not, because I left Recognition Name blank. Great idea for a fund raiser!

ReplyDeleteagain my comment deleted. Sad panda. Just trying to help
DeleteBest wishes on a successful relay... Donated!
ReplyDeleteMy comment was deleted.. I was just sharing how cancer CAN be cured by managing the bodys PH levels. My friend is proof of that. Its sad that people dont want the word to get out.
ReplyDeleteOne person is not proof... there could've been a million other factors that would've helped in your friend's win against cancer.
DeleteIf it was really that simple, studies would've proven it ages ago... and cancer would be considered cured. I, for one, will NEVER take the advice of someone without a PhD on how to treat my cancer, and wouldn't even consider judging my entire life or death decision on some test that can be bought online...
You most likely would not had your comment deleted if you hadn't of ended it with such a poor and tasteless choice for a closing. Maybe try to be a little less condescending next time...
Thanks for doing this! I left you a personal message when I donated. :)

I thanked you on Facebook, but I wanted to thank you again. :-)
DeleteAmazing :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, girl!
DeleteDanielle-
ReplyDeleteMy mom is a two time breast cancer survivor. My grandfather passed away from complications relating to bone cancer (progression from esophageal cancer). This is very close to home for me. I'm happy to hear your father is doing well and I commend you on your fund raising efforts for Relay for Life. It's really awesome and I am happy to help contribute to your efforts. I only wish it could have been more! :) Hugs to you!
Thanks, Andrea! I'm sorry to hear about your loss. However, I am also glad to hear your mom is one tough cookie. Any dollar amount helps and put altogether with the others, they do a lot of good. <3

Good on you Danielle. My Dad died of pancreatic cancer so this is close to my heart. I am amazed at your fundraising efforts so have made a small donation as currently unemployed. Not sure if I ticked the right box though.
ReplyDeleteAll the best, hugs xo

Thank you Peita... I'll double check to make sure it went through. I'm so sorry for your loss and am grateful for even the smallest donation. Combined with everyone's small donations, we're making one big splash at Relay! :-)

DeleteI am glad I saw this before it ended, not just because of the cool prizes, but because it's an important cause.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see how a motivated person can make a difference.
