Announcing: March Madness Tournament + Giveaway!

 March Madness has begun in the world of college basketball, with the first group of teams from the top 64 in the country taking the court tomorrow.

As many of you know, I'm a HUGE sports fan so this event could not go unnoticed on my blog. So tomorrow is going to kick off Princess Polish's own March Madness tournament!

Here is how it is going to work:

Similar to NCAA March Madness, the nail polish tournament starts off with 64 contestants. Each contestant is a shade of polish representing the color(s) of a college in the NCAA contest. The bracket matches up these teams according to the actual matchups for the first round of 64, 8 matchups for each division of the country (North, South, East, and West).

Every day will feature a regional tournament in which you will vote for your favorites. The top 64 will run and March 15 will be the South, March 16 the North, March 17th the East, March 18th the west. The top 32 starts on March 19 with the South again and so on. As polishes are eliminated, the field will narrow and the voting will continue until we have a winning polish.

For example, the first round of competition in the south has South Dakota State/OPI Catch Me in Your Net taking on Baylor/Zoya Yara. The winner will move on to face the winner of Colorado/Wet n Wild Gray's Anatomy v. UNLV/Color Club After Hours in the Top 32.

And just like in the NCAA tournament, there are the favored powerhouses (like the designer brands of OPI, Essie, China Glaze, etc) and the underdogs with the potential to bust the bracket (like Cult Nails, Wet n Wild, Revlon,etc.).

Now here is the fun part! Whichever polish is crowned the champion will be the grand prize for the giveaway, with the runner up polish as the second prize. Since you're in control of what polish ends up as top dog, make sure to vote for your favorites and get the word out! This part of the giveaway will run for a week and then be chosen by Rafflecopter.org.

Hump Day Holo: Zoya Mira

I've already gushed over how much I love Zoya Mira, but if you adore the purple creme as much as I do, you're going to die when you see it holo-fied.

Swatch and Review: Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle

I have never owned a single Deborah Lippmann polish before. To pay $18 for a REALLY small bottle is really hard to justify on a college budget. Sure, I have splurged on Nails Inc. magnetic shades, but those have more polish in them and well... they're magnetic.

I was fortunate enough to snag Razzle Dazzle for half the price on a blog sale recently and have been waiting for the perfect time to rock it. And that time is now. (Though I'm currently wearing it holo-fied)

Razzle Dazzle is a cranberry jelly with suspended fuschia glitter that evens out rather nicely. I'd go so far as to say it is glass-flecked, since there is no texture even after a single coat on the nail. Three coats built up entirely opaque.

 

Seriously, I LOVE it. (Though I'm still lemming for Across the Universe and cannot find its Essence dupe ANYWHERE.)

Day 27: Zoya America

For Day 27 and Day 28, we're going to do something a little special and feature two lovely ladies I have become friends with in the blogosphere. Don't worry, for 29 and 30, we'll go back to our regular programming and there will still be a question to answer that will count as a vote.

Today, the lovely lady behind The Nail Files will be our guest editor. And so, I turn the blog over to her...

When I was asked to write a guest post for Princess Polish's "30 Days of Zoya," the first color that popped into my head was America (La Di Di Collection, summer 2009)! This is my all time favorite Zoya and I don't think she gets enough credit. We all know Carmen (currently in Time Square) was Zoya's first color and Sooki is "everyone's favorite".. blah blah blah.. America is amazing and needs more love!!

America is best described on the Zoya website as, "Bright, bold, medium retro tomato-red creme. This unique red screams retro pin-up girl glamour."

I'm very hesitant to try/buy red polish. I have a cool and very light skintone, therefore most reds looks horrible on me (at least I think).. but America is wonderful! Aside from the gorgeous red color, the formula is phenomenal. It took nearly one (yes, ONE) coat for full opacity, but I used two just to be safe.

America is hands down my favorite Zoya! The formula is AWESOME and the bright red is so eye catching, you and your nails will surely get noticed!
