Swatch and Review: Milani Retro Glam Collection

Happy Monday, everyone! Today, I have for you six AWESOME new limited edition shades from Milani, including a really fun glitter topper called Jewel FX. It's named the Retro Glam Collection and my favorite part is that they're all named after ice cream flavors!

First up is Almond Bliss, a creamy beige that was opaque with three coats. For a color this soft, I didn't have any application issues.

Here is Almond Bliss with the Jewel FX topper, Sprinkles. This reminds me of Cookies and Cream ice cream!

Next is Creamy Pistachio, a pale mint green cream polish. This was a little streaky by the second coat and required a third to even it out. But you can't see the streaks, so the third time was the charm.

Sprinkles looks AWESOME over Creamy Pistachio too!

Here is Mint Chip, a grass green cream polish. This only needed two coats and applied better overall than Creamy Pistachio. I think this color is a little more lime than mint, so it doesn't quite live up to its name. But that's just being nitpicky at this point!

One coat of Sprinkles over Mint Chip... I love this too! I'm going to have trouble picking favorites soon!

Strawberry Shake is a dark bubblegum cream polish that reminds me of Pepto Bismol. But not in a bad way. This is one of the few bubblegum shades I've found that doesn't look ridiculous on me! This needed three coats to even out the streaks.

The Strawberry Shake and Sprinkles combo is pretty, even though it's not my favorite of the combinations. It's still really nice.

Last is Raspberry Delight is a bright cerise cream polish that applied beautifully in two coats. I think this is my favorite of all the shades...

And my favorite of the combinations. The white and the black REALLY pop nicely!!!

I really loved this collection for a number of reasons. The first is that while a lot of these were on the pastel or muted side, the application wasn't an issue as it often is with other brands. Secondly, it seems like Milani really gave some thought as to what shades would work best with the Jewel FX top coat. They didn't just throw out there whatever they thought was an "in color." As a result, these really shine.

The Retro Glam Collection is available at select CVS and Meijer stores during the month of August. Please note that some stores might put up the collections before August. Both collections will also be available online at www.milanicosmetics.com

So what are your thoughts on the Retro Glam Collection?

  9. absolutely love colors like this - pastel and soft but still bright. I especially like Almond bliss. it looks like a nice shade of sandy white that isn't too stark - similar to My Vampire Is Buff by OPI. I love the names too, starting to crave some sugar now..
