Swatch and Review: Zoya Summer PixieDust Collection

Happy Saturday, lovelies! As I teased last night on Facebook, I received some amazing blogger nail mail yesterday afternoon from Zoya and I immediately went into swatch mode! Despite the rain!

Warning: THIS WILL BE PICTURE HEAVY!

 First up is Destiny!

Destiny is a coral matte polish with gold shimmer. It reminds me a lot of Zoya Reva in terms of its makeup. All pictures are with two coats.

I'm not normally a coral kind of girl, but I loved this one. It looked so juicy that if it were a slushie, I'd already have brain freeze!

You can see that even though this is a texture, it's not overly gritty on the nail. You shouldn't fear snagging these on clothing or other fabric. It's a non-issue with these!

And here is Destiny with a layer of top coat. Gorgeous!

Next up is Beatrix, a beautiful tangerine matte polish with gold shimmer. Almost a sister shade to Zoya Tanzy!

I applied two coats and it was perfectly opaque. This was another shade so yummy I wanted to take a bite out of!

Beatrix with top coat. Again, stunning!

Here is Stevie, a beautiful lavender polish with silver shimmer!

All swatches of Stevie are with two coats. This was the odd one out of the collection in terms of color. This may have fit in better with the spring pixies and is the only muted one of the summer pixies. That's not to say it's not gorgeous. Because it is!

And lastly, Stevie with top coat. How pretty and girly is this?!?!

Next up is Solange, a metallic gold matte polish. If you took Zoya Ziv and made it a glitter, it would be this one! And I mean this in the best way!

This was perfectly opaque in two coats. I'm not normally a gold or yellow girl, but for Solange, I can make an exception. This literally made me feel like I had coated my nails in gold.

Solange with a layer of top coat... holy moly, I'm dying. So luxurious!

Here's Miranda, a juicy magenta jelly matte with silver shimmer. Seriously, this could be a jelly. Two coats were needed for opacity. Stunner.

With a layer of top coat, it's even juicier. Oh my goodness, I'm in love with this one.

In fact, Miranda was my favorite of the collection...

Until the next one came along!

Last, but certainly not least, is Liberty. Liberty is an electric blue matte glitter.

I cannot possibly convey to you how much I am obsessed with this shade. It reminds me of a swimming pool on the hottest day of the summer. As Richard Hallmarq from Project Runway would say, "It's EVERYTHING."

This was opaque in just two coats.

And with top coat... I'm dead. Just dead. Could this be more stunning and gorgeous and to die for?

I don't think so.

Overall, this was a GREAT collection and I liked it far more than the spring shades. I could easily wear every single polish in this collection. While the odd polish out was Stevie, it was only because it wasn't as bright and juicy of a shade as the other five.

The application of all three polishes was great. Everything was opaque in two coats and had a great formula. I did not use base coat with these, as per Zoya's instructions. Just be really careful around the cuticles with Liberty, as it will stain. But it's not so intense that a little whitening toothpaste or baking soda can't remove it. You won't have smurf nails... don't worry!

The Summer PixieDust Collection is available on Zoya.com for $9 per bottle.

So what do YOU think of the Summer Pixies? I'm dying to know!

  3. I can't wait for mine to come! :) They're so beautiful! I really just started ordering Zoya polishes when they brought out the first line of Pixie Dust, and I'm loving the colors! Plus I love that they offer a 50% discount to professionals. It makes it easier to lose control :) lol

Try these with a matte topcoat. It keeps the matte finish, while encpasulating the glitter (like a polish jelly sandwich). It's subtle, but super cool looking. (It's a bit more obvious when you do it with OPI's Liquid Sands, just because of the bigger glitter, but it still works on Pixie Dust). That's actually my preferred way to wear to wear them, because I feel like they begin to look a little dry by the next day.

Gorgeous swatches, I think I fell in love all over again! ♥ But I'm curious - another blogger said Liberty stained her nails. Did you have the same issue?

    1. I didn't find that it stained, but it wasn't on my nails for more than 5-10 minutes. HOWEVER, I did find it stained my skin and cuticles.
